As for needing editing... it's not tightly organized prose, but I enjoy this personal idiosyncrasy in a memoir, discursive tendencies and all. It's an interesting question relating to the genre, for sure.

@Christie Hope you enjoy! I share in the admiration for her flag-cutting-up sassiness, as well.

@marcillac Thanks! It is quite entertaining, and given the fragility of humor in translation, you might want to give it a go.

@Dr. Dr.Bhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02298893523780056481noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2665236978084294968.post-78466083086583927372011-06-20T21:41:30.376-04:002011-06-20T21:41:30.376-04:00Sounds interesting and a great review. That is just a level of awesome that tells you exactly what kind of a woman she is. Here's hoping that the translation rocks as awesomely as the original.Christiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08276355652503715188noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2665236978084294968.post-58776316408779035852011-06-20T10:02:20.160-04:002011-06-20T10:02:20.160-04:00Wow. For a performing artist to spend the endless hours alone struggling over words... I can't get over it.

I can't think of any current diva/o who'd do that. Including Bartoli, who likes to think of herself as a musicologist of sorts. Well, maybe Dolora Zajick I think wrote her own stuff.

Though I think you come close in your review to saying that Ludwig could have used some help :). So... I'm of two minds about this memoir authorship business.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2665236978084294968.post-14406741685936255842011-06-20T08:27:13.718-04:002011-06-20T08:27:13.718-04:00@Christie I found it so! I read it in German, but am trusting the translation would also be charming.

@DTO Ha! :) No, I don't think so: she credits the musicologist Peter Csobadi with organizational help, and I think he typed up her manuscripts, but her description of the process seems to indicate that the authorship is her own.Lucyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02549302523503271428noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2665236978084294968.post-7976525386156600572011-06-20T06:08:14.158-04:002011-06-20T06:08:14.158-04:00Where is that Like button when you actually need i...Where is that Like button when you actually need it...

So, she didn't have a ghost writer?
